Peer Reviewe Process
All manuscripts submitted to TARBAWI: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam are first evaluated by the editorial team to determine whether they are suitable for further review. At this initial stage, the editors assess the manuscript based on several criteria, including the suitability of the topic with the journal’s focus and scope, originality and academic contribution, compliance with the author guidelines, clarity of writing, and the result of similarity screening using plagiarism detection software.
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening will proceed to the peer review stage. TARBAWI implements a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure an objective, fair, and unbiased evaluation.
Each eligible manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who have expertise in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research experience, relevance of expertise, and absence of any conflict of interest.
The reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, significance, methodological soundness, theoretical contribution, relevance to the field of education in Muslim society, clarity of analysis, and overall quality of presentation. Based on their review, the reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions: accept submission, accept with minor revisions, reconsider after major revisions, or reject submission.
The handling editor and/or Editor-in-Chief carefully consider all reviewer comments before making the final editorial decision. If the recommendations of the reviewers differ significantly, the editor may assign the manuscript to an additional reviewer to obtain another expert opinion.
The editorial decision is then communicated to the corresponding author along with the anonymous review comments. Authors whose manuscripts require revision are expected to revise and resubmit their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers’ and editors’ suggestions within the specified period.
For manuscripts requiring major revisions, the revised version may be sent back to the same reviewers for further evaluation. For manuscripts requiring only minor revisions, the handling editor may evaluate the revised manuscript without sending it again to the reviewers.
A manuscript will only be accepted for publication once the editors are satisfied that all important comments and recommendations have been properly addressed. Accepted manuscripts will proceed to the copyediting, proofreading, and layout editing stages before publication.
All articles published in TARBAWI are available online as open access and can be freely accessed and downloaded by readers.
