Abstract

These guidelines are intended to assist authors in preparing scientific articles for publication in TARBAWI Journal. In addition to providing several instructions on how to write a scientific article, these guidelines also present specific requirements that must be fulfilled for an article to be published in TARBAWI.

INTRODUCTION

These guidelines are designed to help authors prepare scientific publications that meet the eligibility requirements for publication in TARBAWI. This document does not attempt to provide detailed guidance on the scientific content of the article itself. However, it is expected to assist authors in presenting scientific material in the form of

FORMATTING

These guidelines also function as a template for writing using Microsoft Word. To ensure that your article conforms to the writing format of TARBAWI Journal, it is recommended that you type directly in this document. These guidelines also explain in detail the margin size, font size, and font type for each part of the article.

Paper Size & Margins

The paper size used in TARBAWI Journal is A4. The margin sizes used in TARBAWI Journal are shown in Figure 1.

Font Type, Size, and Spacing

The font used in TARBAWI Journal is Times New Roman. For articles written in Indonesian, foreign terms should be italicized. The line spacing used is 1.5 spacing.

The font size requirements applied in TARBAWI Journal are as follows:

  1. The article title is written in capital letters, 12-point font, and bold.

  2. The author’s name is written without academic titles, in 11-point font.

  3. The author’s affiliation and contact information (e-mail, etc.) are written in 10-point font.

  4. The heading Abstract is written in 11-point font and bold.
    a. Use “Abstract” if the article is written in English. b.Use “Abstrak” if the article is written in Indonesian.

  5. The content of the abstract is written in 10-point font.

  6. The abstract must be written in two languages, namely Indonesian and English.

  7. Keywords are written after the abstract in 10-point font.

  8. Subheadings are written in 12-point font and bold.

  9. The article text is written in 12-point font and justified.

  10. The article length is 18–20 pages.

  11. Captions for figures and tables are written in 11-point font and centered. Examples of figure and table captions can be seen in Figure 1 and Table 1.

Writing Mathematical Equations

The fonts used for writing equations are Times New Roman, Cambria, or Symbol. Mathematical equations may be written in the same line as the text (that is, inline), for example a² + b² = c². However, it is preferable to write the equation on a separate line, centered, and numbered sequentially, as in the following equation: (1)

A reference to an equation is written, for example, as follows: Equation (1). The word “Equation” begins with a capital letter even when it appears in the middle of a sentence. The equation number is placed in parentheses.

ARTICLE COMPONENTS

In TARBAWI Journal, an article must contain the following components:

1. Article Title

2. Author’s name, institution/workplace, and e-mail

3. Abstract and keywords

4. Introduction

5. Research Method

6. Results and Discussion

7. Conclusion

8. References

The abstract briefly explains the main problem to be addressed and provides an overview of the results achieved. The maximum length allowed in TARBAWI Journal is 200 words. Keywords should be selected in such a way that they can quickly give readers an indication of the content of the paper. Imagine that you are searching for a paper on the topic using a search engine: what words would you type as keywords to find the paper? Do not write too many keywords. The maximum number permitted in TARBAWI Journal is five keywords.

The Introduction section should explain the background of the problem to be addressed and the theoretical foundation underlying the writing of the article. The Research Method section explains the methods used by the researcher in the article. The Conclusion section summarizes the results achieved. The References section contains the books or articles cited in the author’s article. Do not include the titles of books or articles that are not directly cited in the manuscript.

If necessary, an Acknowledgement section may be added after the Conclusion and before the References. An acknowledgement is only needed if the research reported in the paper was funded by a particular institution.

LANGUAGE STYLE

A scientific article aims to convey an idea, theory, or solution to a scientific problem to readers in a clear, straightforward, and unambiguous manner. Therefore, use language that is as concise and simple as possible. Avoid overly long sentences. Long sentences should preferably be divided into two or more shorter sentences. Avoid writing things that are not directly related to the issue being discussed, even in the form of footnotes, since TARBAWI Journal does not permit the use of footnotes.

Articles in TARBAWI Journal may be written in Indonesian or English. If the paper is written in Indonesian, try to use Indonesian terms whenever possible. If a term has no equivalent in Indonesian, write the term in English and italicize it.

TABLES AND FIGURES

Tables and figures should be placed on separate lines and centered. Make sure that the tables and figures can be understood properly. Therefore, ensure that the font size in the table or figure and the image resolution are sufficiently high. Figure captions are placed below the figure. Table captions are placed above the table. Each figure and table must be numbered (for example, Figure 1, Figure 2, ... or Table 1, Table 2, ...).

If it is necessary to refer to a table or figure in the article, use a form such as Figure 2 or Table 3. The words “Figure” and “Table” begin with capital letters even when they appear in the middle of a sentence.

CITATIONS

Citations are used to indicate that a particular part of your article comes from the opinions, ideas, and/or writings of others. Citations should be taken from accountable and reliable sources. In other words, avoid using citations from sources such as Wikipedia.

WRITING REFERENCES

The reference style used in TARBAWI Journal is based on the format established by IEEE. The form of each reference entry depends on the type of source used. The references in TARBAWI Journal are arranged in alphabetical order.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
