Penelitian ini mengkaji transformasi linguistik nama-nama desa di Kabupaten Kepahiang, Provinsi Bengkulu, yang telah mengalami pergeseran dari bahasa Rejang ke bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis 18 nama desa berdasarkan struktur morfologisnya, dengan fokus pada proses pergeseran bahasa serta dampaknya terhadap nilai-nilai budaya dan linguistik lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa toponim yang dianalisis tergolong monomorfemik dan polimorfemik. Transformasi ini sering kali menyebabkan hilangnya unsur budaya dan historis yang melekat dalam toponim asli, mencerminkan ketegangan antara pelestarian tradisi linguistik dan pemenuhan kebutuhan administratif modern. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa bahasa Rejang menggunakan pola morfologis aglutinatif untuk menyampaikan makna geografis sekaligus mencerminkan hubungan sosial, historis, dan kultural masyarakat setempat.

Abstract
This study examines the linguistic transformation of village names in Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu Province, which have shifted from the Rejang language to Indonesian. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method to analyze 18 village names based on their morphological structures, focusing on the language shift process and its impact on local cultural and linguistic values. The findings indicate that all analyzed toponyms are classified as monomorphemic and polymorphemic. This transformation often results in the loss of cultural and historical elements embedded in the original toponyms, reflecting the tension between preserving linguistic traditions and meeting modern administrative needs. The analysis reveals that the Rejang language employs an agglutinative morphological pattern to convey geographic meaning while reflecting the social, historical, and cultural relationships of the local community.
