Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process — Jumptech (Journal of Muhammadiyah’s Application Technology)

1) Editorial Pre-Screening

Every submission is first evaluated by the Editors for compliance with JUMPTECH policies and basic scholarly quality. The pre-assessment considers:

  • Scope fit with JUMPTECH’s domains:
    Irrigation Civil Engineering (e.g., hydrology, hydraulics, water-quality control, irrigation & drainage technology, sustainability, O&M, economics and regulation);
    Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (e.g., power systems, protection, DSP, image processing, robotics, control/embedded systems, telecoms & networking, software engineering, data mining, multimedia, mobile, parallel/distributed computing, AI, graphics, AR/VR);
    Architecture, Urban & Regional Planning (e.g., planning & design, building science/technology, BIM, structural/materials, project management, urban planning, housing, landscape, conservation/heritage, Islamic architecture, regional/city studies, infrastructure/transport, policy & economics, behavior–space–culture, tourism & space).

  • Originality & overlap checked with Turnitin/Similarity Check.

  • Adherence to author guidelines (structure, formatting, references, ethics).

  • Publication language (clear academic English).

Manuscripts passing this stage proceed to external review; otherwise, they may be returned to authors for correction or declined.

2) Double-Blind External Peer Review

  • Each eligible manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers under a double-blind model (authors and reviewers remain anonymous).

  • The handling editor invites reviewers based on subject expertise, methodological fit, absence of conflicts of interest, and availability. If a reviewer declines, they may suggest suitable alternatives.

3) Reviewer Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers assess the manuscript on:

  • Contribution & originality to the relevant field/track.

  • Scientific/technical rigor (theory, methods, datasets, experiments, validation, statistics).

  • Clarity & organization (figures/tables, reproducibility, language quality).

  • Relevance to scope & readership of JUMPTECH.

  • Ethical compliance (research integrity, citations, data handling).

Reviewers may recommend: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject, accompanied by a constructive, point-by-point report.

4) Editorial Decision

  • The Editor-in-Chief and handling editor consider all reviews before issuing a decision.

  • Where reviewer opinions diverge substantially, the editor may seek an additional review.

  • Decision letters to authors include anonymous reviewer comments and any required actions.

5) Revisions & Resubmission

  • Authors must submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response-to-reviewers document mapping changes to each comment.

  • Revised papers may be returned to the original reviewers for re-evaluation (especially after major revisions) or assessed by the handling editor for minor revisions.

6) Acceptance, Copy-Editing, and Publication

  • Upon acceptance, manuscripts undergo copy-editing/layout.

  • The final version is published online open access as a downloadable PDF on the journal website.

7) Confidentiality & Ethics

  • All submissions and reviews are treated as confidential.

  • Reviewers must disclose conflicts of interest and decline assignments when appropriate.

  • Suspected misconduct (plagiarism, fabrication/falsification, duplicate submission) is handled per COPE-aligned practices and JUMPTECH policies.
