Publishing Process

The publishing process of Balance: Jurnal Ekonomi is designed to ensure transparency, integrity, and academic quality. All manuscripts undergo rigorous editorial screening and peer review according to international publishing standards and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. The process includes the following stages:

1. Submission

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s Open Journal System (OJS).

  • Authors are required to follow the Author Guidelines in terms of manuscript structure, format, referencing style, and ethical statements.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

  • The editorial team evaluates the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s Focus and Scope.

  • Plagiarism is checked using standard detection software (e.g., Turnitin).

  • Manuscripts may be desk-rejected if they fail to meet basic requirements or ethical standards.

3. Peer Review Process

  • Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers using a double-blind peer review system (authors and reviewers remain anonymous).

  • Reviewers assess the manuscript based on: originality, theoretical and methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, ethical compliance, and contribution to the field of economics.

  • The typical review period is 4–8 weeks.

4. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept – the manuscript is suitable for publication with no further changes.

  • Minor Revision – the manuscript requires small corrections before publication.

  • Major Revision – the manuscript requires substantial revisions and must be resubmitted.

  • Reject – the manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards.

Authors receive constructive feedback to improve their work. Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated by editors or reviewers before a final decision.

5. Copyediting and Proofreading

  • Accepted manuscripts are subject to professional copyediting to ensure consistency in language, clarity, and formatting.

  • Authors review and approve the proof version before final publication.

6. Online First Publication

  • Articles that have completed copyediting are published in Online First format prior to being included in a regular issue.

  • Each article is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for citation and indexing purposes.

7. Final Publication

  • Articles are published in the scheduled issues of Balance: Jurnal Ekonomi, which is issued biannually (June and December).

  • All articles are made available in both print and online formats, ensuring broad accessibility.

8. Post-Publication Responsibilities

  • The journal accommodates post-publication discussions, including comments, corrections, retractions, or errata in accordance with COPE guidelines.

  • Authors are encouraged to disseminate their work through institutional repositories, academic networks, and professional platforms, ensuring compliance with the journal’s open-access policy.
