Author Guidelines

Balance: Jurnal Ekonomi (p-ISSN: 1858-2192 | e-ISSN: 2686-5467) is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality articles in the field of economics. Authors are required to follow the guidelines below before submitting manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system (OJS).

General Requirements

  1. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Simultaneous submission to another journal is prohibited.

  2. All submissions will be screened for plagiarism using detection software (e.g., Turnitin). Manuscripts with similarity above the journal’s threshold will be rejected.

  3. Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian. If written in Indonesian, the title, abstract, and keywords must also be provided in English.

  4. The length of the manuscript must not exceed 25 pages, including references, tables, and figures.

  5. Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word (doc/docx), with the following format:

    • Paper size: A4

    • Margin: 2.5 cm (top, bottom, left, right)

    • Font: Times New Roman

    • Size: 11 pt (except title and special sections)

    • Line spacing: single

    • Columns: Abstract (one column); Main text (two columns, width 7 cm each, spacing 1 cm)


Manuscript Structure

1. Title

  • Written in English (and Indonesian if applicable).

  • Concise, informative, and specific (8–16 words).

  • Avoid unnecessary phrases such as “A Study on…”.

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 16, bold.

Example:
The Impact of Islamic Corporate Governance on Financial Performance of Sharia Banks in Indonesia


2. Author Identity

  • Full names of all authors (without titles or degrees).

  • Institutional affiliation(s).

  • Email addresses (at least one corresponding author must be indicated).

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 8.

3. Abstract and Keywords

  • Written in English and Indonesian (150–250 words each).

  • Abstract must summarize the background, objectives, methods, results, and main contributions.

  • No references or citations allowed in the abstract.

  • Provide 3–5 keywords, avoiding repetition of words already in the title.

  • Font: Cambria, 10 pt, italic, single spacing.


4. Introduction

  • Length: 600–900 words (15–20% of the manuscript).

  • Must include background (global and local context), literature gap, research problem, objectives, and contributions (theoretical and practical).

  • All cited works must appear in the reference list.


5. Literature Review / Theoretical Framework

  • Provides the conceptual and theoretical basis of the study.

  • Summarizes prior empirical studies (especially from Scopus/ISI journals within the last 5 years).

  • May include hypothesis development (for quantitative studies).


6. Research Methods

  • Clearly describe the research design (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods).

  • State the population, sample size, sampling technique, and study location.

  • Explain data collection methods (e.g., questionnaires, interviews, document review).

  • Detail analytical methods (e.g., multiple regression, SEM, thematic analysis).

  • Ethical approval must be mentioned if human/animal subjects are involved.


7. Results

  • Present findings using text, tables, and figures as necessary.

  • Results should be clear, systematic, and without interpretation.


8. Discussion

  • Interpret the results logically.

  • Compare findings with prior studies.

  • Highlight theoretical, practical, and policy implications.

  • Discuss limitations of the study.


9. Conclusion and Recommendations

  • Summarize key findings without repeating details from the discussion.

  • Provide implications (theoretical and practical).

  • Suggest directions for future research and possible applications.


10. References

  • References must follow APA 7th edition.

  • At least 80% must be from peer-reviewed journal articles, preferably Scopus or ISI indexed, and published within the last 5 years.

  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools (Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, etc.).

Manuscript Writing Checklist

Before submission, authors must ensure that their manuscript meets the following criteria:

  • Title: 8–16 words, concise, informative, specific.

  • Abstract: 150–250 words, both in English and Indonesian.

  • Keywords: 3–5 phrases, do not repeat title words.

  • Manuscript length does not exceed 25 pages.

  • References follow APA 7th edition; at least 80% from journals.

  • Similarity index checked and below journal’s threshold.

  • Ethical approval included (if applicable).
