AgriMu Journal (ISSN 2809-9583 for Print, ISSN 2809-5715 for Online) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published twice a year by the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. The journal adopts the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors to ensure integrity, accountability, and transparency in scholarly publishing.

1. Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, free from plagiarism, and have not been published elsewhere. Proper citation and acknowledgment of others’ work are mandatory.

  • Data Accuracy: Authors must present accurate and reliable data. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.

  • Multiple or Redundant Publication: Manuscripts describing essentially the same research should not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.

  • Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All contributors must be listed.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that could influence the research.

  • Corrections of Errors: If an author discovers significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor to correct or retract the article.

2. Duties of Editors

  • Editorial Decisions: The Editor-in-Chief, supported by the Editorial Board, is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published, based on the work’s significance, originality, and clarity, as well as its relevance to the journal’s scope.

  • Fair Play: Manuscripts are evaluated solely based on their academic merit without discrimination regarding race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, or political philosophy of the authors.

  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research purposes without the express written consent of the author.

3. Duties of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except with the editor’s authorization.

  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and report any similarities between the manuscript under consideration and other published papers.

  • Timeliness: Reviewers are expected to complete their review within the allocated time (generally three weeks). If unable to review, they should promptly notify the editor.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors.

4. Duties of the Publisher

  • The publisher, Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, ensures that all stages of publication are carried out with integrity and transparency.

  • The publisher safeguards editorial independence and does not interfere with the decision-making process of the editorial team.

  • The publisher is responsible for ensuring proper archiving, open-access availability, and long-term preservation of all published content.

  • The publisher ensures compliance with publishing ethics to prevent plagiarism, fraudulent data, or unethical research practices.

5. Ethical Considerations in Publishing

Cases of suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission, or authorship disputes will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines, and necessary action will be taken, including article correction or retraction when required.
