Publication Ethics

AgriMu Journal (ISSN 2809-9583 Print | ISSN 2809-5715 Online) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published twice a year by the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The publication of articles in this journal is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge on agribusiness and rural development. To ensure the highest standards of ethical behavior, all parties involved in the publishing process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to the following principles, based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines.

Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. Proper citation and acknowledgment of others’ work are mandatory.

  • Data Integrity: Authors must present accurate data and results. Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting is considered unethical.

  • Multiple or Redundant Publication: Manuscripts should not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously. Republishing the same research in multiple journals is prohibited.

  • Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have significantly contributed to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All contributors must be acknowledged.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that could affect the interpretation of their manuscript.

  • Errors in Published Works: If an author discovers a significant error in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate to retract or correct the article.

Duties of Editors

  • Editorial Decision: Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published, based on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

  • Fair Play: Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content, without discrimination based on race, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, nationality, or political philosophy.

  • Confidentiality: Editors must not disclose information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and editorial board.

  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s consent.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts.

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents. They must not share or discuss the manuscript with others without permission.

  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Constructive feedback must be provided to improve the manuscript.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors and report any similarities or overlap with other manuscripts.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors.

Duties of the Publisher

  • Integrity of the Record: The publisher ensures that all published content is permanently available and preserved. Corrections, retractions, or clarifications are issued when necessary.

  • Editorial Independence: The publisher respects the independence of editorial decisions and does not influence the evaluation process.

  • Ethical Oversight: The publisher works closely with editors and authors to prevent and address research misconduct, plagiarism, and other unethical practices.
