Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics

Ar-Ribh: Jurnal Ekonomi Islam is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and to maintaining integrity in all stages of the publication process. This statement is based on the guidelines issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

  • Authors must submit original, unpublished manuscripts that are not under review elsewhere.

  • All sources and references used must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.

  • Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research and writing process. All co-authors must be appropriately credited.

  • Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of their manuscript.

  • If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obliged to promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate in retracting or correcting the paper.

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for the decision of which articles to publish and must do so based on the manuscript's quality, originality, and relevance to the journal's scope.

  • Editors must evaluate manuscripts objectively and without discrimination based on gender, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, or political ideology.

  • Confidentiality must be maintained throughout the review process. Editors must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher.

  • Editors must avoid any conflicts of interest and should recuse themselves from handling a manuscript if such a conflict exists.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

  • Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help improve the quality of manuscripts through constructive feedback.

  • Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

  • Reviewers must conduct their evaluations objectively, avoiding personal criticism of the author, and must express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors or institutions associated with the paper.

4. Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, as the publisher of Ar-Ribh: Jurnal Ekonomi Islam, is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are made independently and without commercial influence.

  • The publisher supports the editorial team and peer reviewers in handling ethical concerns and acts upon misconduct, including retraction or correction of published content if necessary.

  • The publisher will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred.

5. Handling of Unethical Behavior

If ethical misconduct is suspected, the journal will follow COPE's flowcharts and guidelines for dealing with such cases. This may include investigation, communication with the involved parties, publication of corrections or retractions, and, if necessary, notification to the relevant institutions or authorities.
