This is the terrifying moment a man is gored by a raging bull - because he was too busy filming on his iPad to see it coming.

The incident was filmed during the 'touradas à corda' (literally bullfights by rope) on the Portuguese island of Terceira.

It then butts the man's head and chest until a brave spectator manages to divert the bull's attention using his sweatshirt.

Dazed, the injured man clutches his head as people rush to his aid. As he removes his hand, blood can be seen streaming from a wound.

The condition of the man is not known. 

The 'touradas à corda' are held by Terceiran villagers between April and late September.

During the event, a bull attached to a rope is let loose in the town centre while people try and provoke the animal. 

The other end of the rope is held by eight men who try to control the bull.
