Ellie Goulding reveals she hasn't eaten pasta in EIGHT MONTHS

Ellie Goulding has admitted she hasn't eaten pasta in eight months and can't remember the last time she ate bread as she is refraining from carbs.

Pasta penne in blue linen on a white backgroundThe singer, 33, appeared on Jessie Ware's Table Manners podcast where she admitted she abstains from eating carbohydrates because they make her feel like she has just swallowed a 'blanket'.

She said: 'I can't remember the last time... I think the last time I had pasta was on my honeymoon, which was last year in September. I can't remember the last time I ate bread either, honestly.'

When asked what she would have for her last meal, Ellie admitted she would use this occasion to indulge in carbs.

She said: 'To be honest... God I'm so boring. I would just have a lot of carbs for my last meal. I feel like I stop myself having pasta, and rice and bread quite a lot. So I'd have something that involves pasta. It would be all carbs I think.

'When I eat carbs - it's not just a vanity thing - I genuinely don't feel great when I have them. I'm someone who's naturally quite active. When I have big bowls of pasta I do feel like I've eaten a blanket or something really heavy.'

Ellie also revealed she is no longer adhering to her previous vegan diet as she has become a lover of dairy.








Ellie said: 'I think the last time I had pasta was on my honeymoon, which was last year in September. I can't remember the last time I ate bread either, honestly'


Elaborating further on her dietary habits, she said: 'In the morning I'll have what I call a messy bowl, which is yoghurt with loads of goji berries and nuts and prunes - I really love prunes which is random - and dates'.

'I'm all about dairy. And my fans who knew I was vegan for a long time will be very shocked by this. I'm very into dairy.

'I'm definitely not mad about coconut yoghurt and all of those dairy free alternatives.'

Ellie said she and husband Caspar Jopling are trying to stay healthy during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

The singer revealed she has become fascinated by things like biohacking, in which people study biology using the same methods as research institutions, and wellgevity, the applied science of longevity, performance and human potential. 

Ellie said: 'We're trying time be very consciously healthy and keep immune system up.

'I've become really obsessed with immunity and wellgevity and like biohacking and eating all the good things.

'So, I've got my salad with some sprouted things in it and some figs and walnut.'

'I eat a lot of things for their nutritional value. It's so dorky. But the things I love for my taste are sweet things. I love sweet things.'

It comes after Ellie revealed she occasionally fasts for 'up to 40 hours', drinking only water, tea and coffee in that time in order to reduce inflammation.

The star told The Mirror: 'I do it very safely by having a purposefully nutritious food day the day before and after. 

'On the fast day, I drink high-grade electrolytes and a LOT of water (plus tea and coffee). Fasting is safe and beneficial unless you are diabetic or have serious health issues.

'I built my way up to 40-hour fasts over time (started with 12). Fasting from time to is a great way to give your digestive system a break.'

Ellie credits her good blood sugar levels and reduced inflammation to fasting.

The singer has previously revealed she once had an addiction to working out but now feels under control.

Her admission comes after she joked she had been 'unable to escape her husband' in lockdown, and revealed she was struggling with a foot injury.

The singer appeared on James Corden's The Late Late Show, where she discussed life self-isolating with husband Caspar in their Oxfordshire home.

Ellie told the show's host: 'This last week's been quite tough because I've hurt my foot.






Life in lockdown: Ellie recently joked that she's been 'unable to escape her husband' as she admitted that she's found the last week in lockdown 'particularly tough' 


'My thing is going out running - I can listen to music, I can listen to a podcast, and I can escape my husband - and I haven't been able to do that, so this last week's been particularly tough.

Looking on the bright side, the Love Me Like You Do songstress said: 'But it means I actually have to work. It means I have no excuse.'

The singer explained how she's been focusing on making new music. 'I've been playing guitar a lot more. 

'My fingers have got those guitar fingers again where they get really callous-y. And I've been teaching myself piano, so I've literally got no excuse but to write music.'

Discussing her upcoming album, Ellie explained: 'The album's got two sides to it.

'The first side is entirely written by me and I play most of the instruments and I produced it and did everything.

'The second half is kind of... the best way to describe it is like an alter ego where I've released all the songs that have ended up on the radio and the songs that I've written with other people, and perhaps not as serious and not quite as heartfelt, but still my songs.

'I have to separate them because it's just not the same.'
