Analisis Strategi Pembelajaran dalam Memitigasi Hambatan Kognitif Pemahaman Teori Sosiologi pada Mahasiswa Unismuh Makassar

This study aims to analyze students difficulties in understanding sociological theories and the instructional strategies employed by lecturers to address these challenges in the Sociology Education Study Program at FKIP Unismuh Makassar. This research adopts a qualitative case study design involving two lecturers and six students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings indicate that students experience difficulties in comprehending theoretical terminology, linking theories to social realities, and dealing with abstract sociological concepts due to low academic literacy and limited prior knowledge. Lecturers apply five instructional strategies, among which case analysis is the most effective in enhancing theoretical understanding. It is concluded that improving students’ comprehension of sociological theories requires strengthening academic literacy and implementing contextual and structured instructional strategies.
