Abstract

The development of digital games has reduced social interaction among elementary school students, thus implicating the weak strengthening of cooperation values in Social Studies (IPS) learning. This study aims to analyze the integration of the traditional game of congklak in Social Studies learning as an effort to strengthen students' social cooperation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data were collected through a comprehensive review of 12 primary scientific sources published in the last five to ten years (2015–2025), including academic textbooks, educational policy documents, and relevant national and international journal articles, then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that the traditional game of congklak is effective as a contextual learning medium that can increase learning participation and develop students' social skills, especially in the aspects of cooperation, honesty, responsibility, discipline, and sportsmanship. In addition, the integration of traditional games in Social Studies learning also contributes to the preservation of local culture. The conclusion of this study indicates that the game of congklak can be used as an alternative strategy in Social Studies learning to strengthen students' social cooperation in elementary schools.
