Social Studies (IPS) learning in elementary schools plays a crucial role in shaping students' understanding of social life and the environment. However, the abstract nature of IPS material often presents difficulties in understanding and results in low student learning interest. This study aims to examine the role of interactive digital media in enhancing elementary school students' interest and understanding of IPS material on social life and the environment. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature review design. Data were obtained through a systematic search of 35 national and international scientific journal articles and related academic books published between 2016 and 2026. Data analysis was conducted in-depth using content analysis techniques to identify, categorize, and synthesize relevant findings related to the use of interactive digital media in IPS learning. The results of the study indicate that interactive digital media contributes significantly to increasing intrinsic motivation and learning interest, strengthening retention of understanding of abstract concepts, and creating a student-centered learning atmosphere. Digital media has been proven to transform monotonous textual material delivery into dynamic and contextual visualizations for elementary school children. The use of interactive digital media is an effective pedagogical strategy for improving the quality of social studies learning at the elementary school level. Further research using quantitative experimental methods is recommended to test the effectiveness of specific types of digital media in schools located in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions.
