Author Guidelines

1. Introduction

Kolaborasi : Jurnal Administrasi Publik, with registered number with ISSN 2442-949X (Print) and ISSN 2620-3499 (Online) published by Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The aims of this journal is to publish research article in the field of the bureaucracy, the public service management, the public policy, the regional autonomy, the management public, the human resource management in public sector, and its related issues.

Kolaborasi : Jurnal Administrasi Publik was available since April 2015. Th editorial board invites you to submit your manuscript to be published in this journal.

2. How to Write the Title, the Name, and the Author’s Address

The title of the article should be written on the top of the first page with the center text alignment with uppercase. Meanwhile, the author’s name (without academic degree), and the affiliation address of the author, should be written with the center text alignment also under the title of the article. The author should give two line spaces between the title and the author’s name. Then, the space between the author’s affiliation address and the abstract title is one space. The keywords must be written below the overall abstract for all words. Those should be arranged in alphabetical order and be separated by semicolon maximally three to five words. Moreover, the title of the article that is written in Bahasa Indonesia should be also stated in English either.

Manuscripts published include articles from research and literature review articles related to the theory and practice of public administration. If the manuscripts are written in Indonesian, it is should be according to the enhanced spelling (EYD. All texts are reviewed anonymously by peer reviewer. The author is given the opportunity to make improvements based on suggestions or recommendations from peer reviewer if the articles are not in accordance with the provisions. be accepted or rejected will be informed by the author's email.


3. The Manuscript General Guidelines

The manuscript text general guidelines are as follows:

  1. The manuscript is the authentic research result that has not been published yet in other publication media or publishing houses.
  2. The article is written on A4-sized papers (210x297 mm), with custom margins as follows: left 25 mm, right 20 mm, bottom 20 mm and top 30 mm, Time New Roman theme font, 12pt font size, and 1.5 line-spacing.
  3. The manuscript is typed using Microsoft Word program on A4 paper, around 3,000-6,000 words including figures, tables and references.
  4. The manuscript that has been written under the guidelines of  Kolaborasi ; Jurnal Administrasi Publik (in MS Word format, use this article template) must be submitted through Online Submission System using Open Journal System (OJS) on website  (
  5. The manuscript which is inappropriate with the Kolaborasi  writing guidelines will be returned to the author before the reviewing process.
  6. The manuscript should contain several aspects of a scientific article as follows: (subtitles as the order), which are: (a) the title of the article, (b) the author’s name (no academic title), (c) the affiliated author’s address, (d) the abstract and the keywords, (e) the introduction, (f) the research method, (g) the research findings and discussion, (h) the conclusion, (i) acknowledgement, (j) the references.
  7. The tables and pictures are placed in the text group after the referenced tables or pictures. Each picture must be given a caption and source (Figure Caption) below the picture and be numbered in Arabic numbering format followed by the picture title. Each table must be given a table title (Table Caption) and numbered in Arabic numbering format above the table followed by the table title and source below the table. The pictures attachment should be guaranteed that they can be printed well in black and white ink (font size, resolution and line space are clearly seen). The picture, the table, and the chart should be placed in the centre between text groups. If it has a bigger size, it can be placed in the centre of a page. The table should not contain vertical lines, while horizontal lines are allowed only for the important point.


4. The Guidelines for the Manuscript Body Text

The title of the manuscript:  The title is written in capital case and symmetrically. The article title does not contain any uncommon abbreviation. The article title should be written maximum of fourteen words, 14pt-sized font, with the bold selection and in the center text format.

Abstract: This abstract  section should be typed in times new roman and  font size of 11 pt. If  article is written in Indonesian, the abstract should be typed in Indonesian and English, abstract in Indonesian 75-100 words and abstract in English 100-125 words. Abstract does not contain images and tables. Keywords maximal 5 words. There are 4 main points to be addressed clearly in abstract section: (1) background of research title, (2) research purpose, (3) research methodology, and (4) research result/contribution.

Introduction: In introduction, authors should state the objectives of the work at the end of introduction section. Before the objective, authors should provide an adequate background, and very short literature survey in order to record the existing solutions/method, to show which is the best of previous researches, to show the main limitation of the previous researches, to show what do you hope to achieve (to solve the limitation), and to show the scientific merit or novelties of the paper. Avoid a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.

Methods: The method explains how the research is conducted, including research design, data collection, research instrument and analytic methods. This part should be narated.

Findings and Discussion: Results should be clear and concise. The results should summarize (scientific) findings rather  than providing data in great detail . Please highlight differences between your results or findings and the previous publications by other researchers.

Conclusion: Contains a description of the conclusions and suggestions that answer questions and formulation of the problem with succinctly and clearly. Because, without a description of the clear cover, reviewers are and the reader would find it difficult to give an assessment of your article. Do not repeat the Abstract, or simply describe the results of research. Give a clear explanation regarding the possible application and / or suggestions related to the research findings

Acknowledgement: Acknowledgements to those who support the research (sponsors and respondents). Families and supervisors are not allowed in this section.

References: The references should begin with the heading REFERENCES appearing centred at the top of the page. References must be listed at the end of the paper. Do not begin them on a new page unless this is absolutely necessary. Authors should ensure that every reference in the text appears in the list of references and vice versa.

5. The Guidelines for the Citations and References

All the served data or quotes in the article taken from the other author articles should attach the reference sources. The references should use a reference application management such as MendeleyEnd Note, or Zotero. The writing format that used in Kolaborasi : Jurnal Administrasi Publik follows the format applied by APA 6th Edition (American Psychological Association).


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
