Sintasan dan Percepatan Moulting Kepiting Bakau (Scylla Serrata) dengan Menggunakan Saponin

Abstract


Kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) merupakan salah satu komoditas perikanan bernilai ekonomis penting dan banyak diminati dipasaran.      Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan saponin terhadap sintasan dan percepatan moulting kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) dan diharapkan dapat bermanfaat bagi seluruh stakeholder terkait serta menjadi salah satu sumber informasi dalam usaha percepatan moulting. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai Juni 2013 di Balai Budidaya Air Payau Desa Bontoloe, Kecamatan Galesong, Kabupaten Takalar, Sulawesi Selatan.  Perlakuan pemberian dosis yang dicobakan terhadap percepatan moulting kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata), adalah sebagai berikut: Perlakuan A = 15 ppm; B = 30 ppm; C = 45 ppm, dan Kontrol (tanpa pemberian saponin).  Adapun peubah yang diamati pada penelitian ini adalah sintasan dan kecepatan moulting.  Sebagai data penunjang, dilakukan pengukuran beberapa parameter kualitas air (suhu, salinitas, pH, oksigen terlarut, dan amoniak). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan saponin tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap sintasan kepiting bakau, namun berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap kecepatan moulting.  Kecepatan moulting tertinggi dicapai pada penggunaan saponin 45 ppm, sehingga disarankan untuk budidaya kepiting bakau lunak (soka) sebaiknya menggunakan saponin dosis 45 ppm.  Data kualitas air yang diukur selama penelitian masih menunjukkan kisaran yang layak dan dapat ditolerir oleh kepiting bakau.

Mangrove crab (Scylla serrata) is the one commodity important economic value and much in demand in the market. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of saponin on survival and moulting acceleration of mud crab (Scylla serrata) and expected to be beneficial for all stakeholders concerned as well be one of the resources in an effort to accelerate moulting. This research was conducted in May and June 2013 in the village of Brackish Water Aquaculture Centres Bontoloe, District Galesong, Takalar, South Sulawesi. Treatment doses tested against acceleration moulting mud crab (Scylla serrata), is as follows: Treatment A = 15 ppm; B = 30 ppm; C = 45 ppm, and Control (without giving saponins). The variables were observed in this study is survival and moulting speed. As supporting data, measurement of water quality parameters (temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, and ammonia). Based on the results of the study indicate that the use of saponin did not significantly affect survival mud crab, but very significant effect on the speed of moulting. Moulting highest speed reached on the use of saponin 45 ppm, so it is advisable for the cultivation of soft mud crab (shelled) should use the saponin dose of 45 ppm. Water quality data measured during the study still showed decent range and can be tolerated by mangrove crabs.
